Quick Fix to Negative Thoughts

May 15, 2018

We are all plagued by negative thoughts and we know they aren’t good for us. It affects our self confidence and spirals us down the rabbit hole.

Typically when you try meditation, exercising or diverting your mind, it  will help you ease the rush of negative thoughts albeit, temporarily. Which is why you need to do them every day.

But how do you get rid of them permanently? You can when you create a mechanism which you can put into action whenever needed.

Here’s are 4 quick steps that always worked for me

Recognise. Very important step. You need to understand what is causing you this thought. Get into the root of it. Hear your thought & feel your emotions.

Look out for subtle cues or behaviours that indicate your thought process. Cues such as biting your nails or tapping an object or your feet restlessly and even procrastination.

Reset. Pause. Stop. Just like rebooting the computer. Except its not as easy. You probably can’t stop the thought but you can stop the behaviour that is causing out of that thought.

A great way to do this is to write that thought down immediately as it occurs. Now read this aloud

Replace that thought with a positive one. Now that you have written your negative thought, write a positive thought right below it. And read the replaced thought aloud

So if you’re saying. ‘I WILL NOT be able to get up at 5:30 am’ convert this to ‘I WILL be able to get up at 5:30 am’

You can 'Prime your brain' with this positive statement.

Reward yourself, once you are able to successfully get over that thought. Pat on your back coz by now you must be feeling amazing to have gotten rid of a negative thought.

Your world will be such a better place if you can take care of the negative thinking and it is possible as long as you have focus and desire to get over them. Good luck!
